Joseph Hilton

Mr. Joseph "Ed" Hilton, 87, of Shelby, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013 at his residence with his family by his side. A native of Mecklenburg County he is the son of the late Joseph Edward Hilton Sr. and Flossie Mae Moore Hilton. He had worked as an electrical motor technician for most of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Hilton loved playing golf both at home and at the beach. He also enjoyed playing cards.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Hilton and his sister, Myrtle Boyd.

He is survived by two daughters, Sheila Gardner and husband Roger of Swannanoa and Marsha Passino of Shelby; one son, Mike Hilton and wife Deb of Jacksonville, NC; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Hilton of Gastonia and Robert Hilton of Burlington, NC; numerous nieces and nephews.
