Joseph Morgan Cabaniss, age 84 of Shelby, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 15, 2021.
He is survived by his two daughters, Robin Kiser (John) of Shelby, NC, and Mary Beth Cabaniss of Shelby, NC, two grandchildren, Dr. Stephanie Kiser of Boston, MA, and Matthew Kiser (Abby) of Statesville, NC, two great grandchildren, Corban Kiser and Callie Kiser, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born July 24, 1936 in Cleveland County, Morgan was the son of the late George and Mary Ruth Walker Cabaniss and was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Cabaniss, and a sister, Patsy Powell.
Morgan was a retired charter member and previous fire chief at No.7 Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid bird hunter, gardener, and had a lifetime love for bowling. Morgan was a faithful member of Double Springs Baptist Church.
The family would like to express a sincere thanks to Darla Wybiral for the loving care that she gave Morgan over the last several years.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, January 18, 2021 at Double Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Bill Fryar. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Morgan will lie in state at Cleveland Funeral Services on Monday from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.
