Judy Skates

Mrs. Judy Inez Towery Skates, age 73 of Shelby, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her children, Evelyn Skates (George Gallagher) of Greensboro, NC, Walter Skates (Mayo) of Shelby, NC, and Lois Skates (Bobby Hatcher) of Shelby, NC, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, two brothers, Tony Towery of Belwood, NC, and Sherrill Towery of Casar, NC, a sister, Edna Revonda Morgan of Shelby, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born March 7, 1948, Judy was the daughter of the late Clarence Marvin Towery and Lois Edna Jackson Towery and was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Henry Edward Skates, and three brothers, Cleve Eugene Towery, Mickey Towery, and Robert William Towery.

Judy enjoyed gardening, going to the beach, helping others, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at 6:00 – 8:00 pm Monday, October 25, 2021 at Cleveland Funeral Services.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Cleveland Memorial Park.
