Mrs. Katherine Elizabeth Price Kilpatrick, age 90, formerly of Concord, NC, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015, at Summit Place of Kings Mountain. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Cleveland Funeral Services and Crematory Chapel conducted by Rev. Chase Thompson. A visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC.
Born August 25, 1924, in Union County, Katherine was the daughter of the late Andrew Henry and Essie Katherine (Rushing) Price and was preceded in death by her husband, Haywood Richard Kilpatrick of 59 years, a sister, Mary Tucker, two brothers, Herbert Price and Bill Price.
She is survived by a son, Tim Kilpatrick and wife Kay of Morganton, NC, a daughter, Jane Scherger and husband George of Shelby, NC, three grandchildren, Jill Cruise and husband Kevin of Kings Mountain, NC, Mark Scherger and wife Katie of Ft. Mill, SC, and Bryan Kilpatrick of Morganton, NC, three great grandchildren, Hunter, Avery, and Georgia Cruise, a brother, Vann Price and wife Jan of Concord, NC, three sisters, Shirley Furr and husband Al of Stone Mountain, GA, Judi Ballard and husband Dave of Kannapolis, NC, and Johnnie Dagenhart and husband Steve of Ft. Mill, SC, and many nieces and nephews.
For many years, Katherine was a devoted church member teaching Sunday school classes, singing in the choir, and serving on many committees. After moving to Shelby in 2008, she was welcomed into the family of Ross Grove Baptist Church. Katherine was an accomplished seamstress for both family and the public. She enjoyed reading and gardening. She also worked in Cabarrus County elementary schools for more than 16 years as a reading assistant. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister to her family.
The family would like to thank the staff of Summit Place of Kings Mountain for providing loving care in the last few months of her life and special appreciation to her Cleveland County Hospice team for their support and love.
