Kenneth Bowen

Mr. Kenneth Joe Bowen of Shelby, 82, passed away Monday March 13, 2023 at Atrium Health-Cleveland.

Born in Cleveland County on April 14, 1940, Mr. Bowen was the son of the late Joseph Dewey and Rehama Clary Bowen. He was also preceded in death by two brothers; Jimmy Bowen and Pinkney Bowen, one brother in law, Harold Eaker.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years; Delores McSwain Bowen of the home, one daughter; Karen Capps and husband Charles, one son; Darrell Bowen all of Shelby, one brother; Paul Bowen and wife Barbara of Shelby, one sister; Patricia Eaker of Shelby as well, two sister in laws; Linda Bowen of Shelby, and Jean Bowen of Gaffney, four grandchildren; Ashley Jones and husband Chris of Kings Mountain, Brittney Smith and husband Patrick of Shelby, Hunter Bowen and Luke Bowen also of Shelby, three great grandchildren; Piper Jones, Taylor Smith, and Riley Smith.

Mr. Bowen was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. After retiring from Fiber Industries, he drove cars for Beaver Dam Auto Auction. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and was an avid Duke Blue Devils fan. He loved the outdoors, especially feeding his birds.

A Funeral service will be held on Friday March 17th, 2pm, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Derek Greene, burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. No formal visitation is scheduled. Patrick Smith, Hunter Bowen, Luke Bowen, Chris Jones, Charles Capps, and Dean McSwain will serve as pallbearers.
