Leonard Davis

Mr. Davis, 88, of Mooresboro, NC passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Chesnee, SC, Mr. Davis retired from Ellis Lumber Company where he was shop foreman. Mr. Davis designed and built a number of church doors in this area. He was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church where he had perfect attendance for 44 years in Sunday School, was in the Builders Sunday School class and served as a deacon a number of times. He had been a member of the choir since 1946. He was noted for being a soloist at weddings and funerals for a number of years with a record of 258 weddings & funerals since 1965. He served as an aircraft mechanic instructor in the U. S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Davis is preceeded in death by his parents Fred Davis & Mary Elsie Sparks Davis, and a sister Mrs. E. B. Packard. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 64 years Raye Dysart Davis of the home, brothers; Travis Hoyle Davis and Russell Sparks Davis and wife Mildred both of Shelby, Harold Kenneth Davis and wife Dorothy of Mauldin, SC, Fred Lynn Davis and wife Rita of Tochapi, CA, Frank Davis of California, Mack Davis and Tom Davis and wife Judy of Gaffney, SC, and a sister Nancy Reynolds of Concord, NC. In addition to these Mr. Davis is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Andy Oliver, Rev. Tim Hendrick and Rev. Eddie Johnson.
