Mallie Wilkie

Miss Wilkie, 96, of Southport, NC, formally of Shelby passed away Monday, February 22, 2010. Miss Wilkie was a native of Cleveland County attended Shelby City Schools. She was a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church in Shelby where she worked with the children and youth departments for many years. She was also past member of Westview Baptist Church in Shelby and had been a member of the Lois Bible Class and Prime Timers. She was a current member of Bethel Baptist Church in Southport. She retired from Esther Mills and was caregiver for a invalid cousin John "Harold" Wilkie for 50 years. She enjoyed many trips and outings with friends and family. Ms. Wilkie was preceeded in death by her parents John Oliver Wilkie and Lustie Oaks Wilkie, sisters; Etta W. Lail, Hattie W. Horner, Arrie W. Padgette and Vertie W. Gilreath, brothers Darvin G. Wilkie, Manie M. Wilkie and J. L. Wilkie. Ms. Wilkie is survived by a sister Mescal W. Davis and will be missed by her nieces, nephews, great nieced, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Jim Brackett.
