Mrs. Martha Street Bailey, age 84 of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Carolinas HealthCare System - Cleveland.
She is survived by her children, Dennis Bailey and wife Sandy of Shelby, NC, and Tim Bailey and wife Julie of Shelby, NC, five grandchildren, Ryan Bailey and wife Amber of Shelby, NC, Dylan Bailey and wife Ashley of Huntersville, NC, Jessica Bailey and Jordan Bailey, both of Shelby, NC, and Christina Stiehle and husband Neil Kingsley of Great Barrington, MA, and two great grandchildren, Troy and Nathan Stiehle.
Born September 30, 1933 in Cleveland County, Mrs. Bailey was the daughter of the late Benjamin H. Street and Lily Smith Street and was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Carl Wiseman Bailey, a son, Kevin Bailey, a sister, Velma Goode, and six brothers, John, L.B., Hugh, Joe, Leonard, and David Street.
Mrs. Bailey worked as an Endoscopy Nurse from its inception at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Martha was known as "Ma B" and "Maw-Maw B" by more unrelated kids and grandkids than can be listed. She enjoyed reading her Bible, sharing God's Word and her faith in Jesus with all who would listen, and some who wouldn't. She also enjoyed visiting with friends and family, and helping others including veterans, and she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Martha was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church since 1965 where she sang in the choir and the Singing Christmas Tree.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Double Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Bulo Price and Rev. Bill Fryar. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
