Mrs. Martha Hoyle Jones, age 85, of Shelby, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Wendover Heights Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Elizabeth Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Clinton Padgett. A visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by a sister, Hazel Putnam and husband Harris of Shelby, NC, a daughter-in-law, Denise Crotts Jones of Shelby, NC, a grandson, Christopher Jones and wife Ashley of Kings Mountain, NC, a brother-in-law, Jake McSwain of Shelby, NC, and two a sister-in-laws, Thelma Hoyle of Shelby, NC, and Kay Kale and husband Howard "Curly" of Shelby, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born March 3, 1929 in Cleveland County, Mrs. Jones was the daughter of the late Lemuel and Letha Swink Hoyle and was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Jones, a son, Mike Jones, two brothers, Ernest Hoyle and Billy Hoyle, and two sisters, Carrie Lee Philbeck and Joanne Wease. Martha was a member of the Elizabeth Baptist Church. She was a caring person that loved to help others and loved her church. She enjoyed traveling, working out in the yard with her flowers, and spending time with her family and friends. Children brought a special joy and a smile to her face. She will be missed by those that knew her.
