Mary Blanton

Mrs. Blanton, 93, of 805 Elmwood Drive, Shelby, NC, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Hospice at Wendover. Mrs. Blanton was a native of Cleveland County, NC, and retired from Dover Mill Company where she was a cloth inspector. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Shelby for 73 years since joining in 1938 and had been a member of the Love Sunday School Class. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and volunteered at the American Red Cross Blood Mobiles and at the Cleveland Regional Medical Center Information Desk. Mrs. Blanton was prededed in death by her parents John H. Southard & Fannie Davis Southard, and her husband Everette Frank Blanton. Mrs. Blanton is survived by her son and his wife John F. Blanton & Betty Jean of Shelby, grandchildren; Anna M. Blanton of Shelby, Staff Sgt. Benjamin J. Blanton & wife christie of Aberdeen, NC, Susan L. Blanton of Garner, NC, and one great grandchild Wyatt J. Blanton of Aberdeen, NC. She is also survived by a long time housekeeper and caregiver Debbie Woods of Shelby and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Tony Tench, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Shelby.
