Mary Belle Elliott, 93, a resident of Brighton Gardens of Greensboro, NC, passed away on April 23, 2013. Ms. Elliott, a native of Polkville, NC, attended Appalachian State University. She also served in the US Army during WWII, and moved to Greensboro in 1946.
She was employed by Southern Bell Telephone for over 35 years and was a member of Southwestern Bell Pioneers during her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, sewing, and traveling.
Mary Belle was a long-standing member of West Market Street United Methodist Church of Greensboro and did volunteer work there.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Paxton Elliott and Fannie Whisnant Elliott, as well as a brother, Robert Hoyle Elliott, all of Polkville. She is survived by a sister Margaret Marie Elliott of Greensboro, and three brothers Thomas Forbis Elliott of Belwood, NC, Charlie Whisnant Elliott of Polkville and Greensboro, John Paxton Elliott, Jr. of Lattimore, NC, and many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
