Mrs. Mildred Inez Hoyle Newton, 83, of Shelby, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Hospice of Cleveland County at Wendover. A native of Cleveland County she is the daughter of the late Henry Nathan Hoyle and Hester Sigmon Hoyle. She had worked at Esther Mill as a Creel Tender. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing bingo and traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Mills Newton; son, Garland Mills Newton, Jr.; son-in-law, Phil Gibson; nine brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Jane Gibson of Shelby and Diana Smith and husband Dennis of Grover; three grandchildren, Sheri Neal and husband Tom, Judy Kats and husband Dan and Philip Gibson; three great grandchildren, Jessica Foster, Kristi Graham and Courtney Neal; five great-great grandchildren, JJ Dixon, Haylie Dixon, Dezi Dixon, Ava Tucker and Greyson Saldo; three sisters, Madge Melton, Mavin Swofford and husband John and Ruth Brown.
