Mrs. Nancy Gibson, 84, went to be with her Lord on July 17, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 10, 1939, in Johnson County, TN, daughter of the late Homer and Ocie Wallace Greer. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Meredith Greer.
Nancy's devout faith played an integral role in shaping the woman she became. She found solace and strength in her involvement with the Eastside Baptist Church. Her unwavering devotion to God was truly admirable and an inspiration to all who knew her.
After completing her education, Nancy dedicated years of her life to serving the United States Department of Agriculture. Her career exemplified efficiency, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. As a retiree, she reflected on those years with immense gratitude for the experiences they afforded her.
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Theodore (Ted) Gibson. Ted passed away almost one year to the date that Nancy passed. Left to cherish her memory as a mother, she leaves behind Tonie Turner and husband Macky of Shelby, Mark Gibson and his wife Stephanie of Boiling Springs, as well as Sabrina Spangler of Boiling Springs. Nancy's legacy extended far beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Outside of her family life, Nancy found joy in simple pleasures. Nancy's kind heart reached out to those in need, always offering a comforting presence and words of wisdom when they were most needed.
Visitation services will be held on July 21, 2023. Beginning at 10:00 AM and continuing until 10:45 AM, friends and family are invited to gather at the Eastside Baptist Church located at 1165 Wyke Rd in Shelby, NC 28150.
Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 11:00 AM in the same location officiated by Rev. Dale Byrd. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery. To honor Nancy the following will serve as Pallbearers: Conner Yates, Andrew Gibson, Carl (Chip) Spangler, Luke Spangler, John Michael Spangler, and Robert (Butch) Packard.
Memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church in memory of Nancy, 1165 Wyke Rd in Shelby, NC 28150.
The loss of Nancy Gibson can never be truly articulated through words alone. Her gentle nature, selfless spirit, and unwavering faith are qualities that become rare treasures over time. As we bid farewell to this incredible woman who went to be with her Lord and Savior, let us also remember the profound impact she had on our lives.
In this time of grief and remembrance, we extend our deepest condolences to all who had the privilege of knowing Nancy. Although she is no longer with us, her spirit will forever linger in our hearts and continue to inspire future generations. May she rest peacefully, knowing that her legacy of love will endure for all time.
