Nell Elizabeth Bowman Daves, 90, died on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby. She was a former resident at Woodside Creek in Boiling Springs.
She was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Greer, SC to the late Joe H. and Emma Thorton Bowman. She was employed in the textile industry for many years and in later life owned and operated Sharon Beauty Nook until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, needle work such as sewing, quilting, and crocheting, and she was an avid reader. She was a long time member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Bine Daves; her only child, Norris Wayne Daves; two brothers, Wilbur and Alfred Bowman; and four sisters, Edna Hollingsworth, Cynthia Patterson, Frances Tessneer, and Josie Smith.
Mrs. Daves is survived by one brother, Maybry Bowman and wife Jean of Shelby, two grandchildren, Elizabeth Greganti and husband Taylor of Chapel Hill, John Daves and wife Karen of Greenville, SC; two great-grandchildren, Caroline and John Greganti of Chapel Hill; and a niece, Elizabeth Hamrick and husband Joe of Mooresboro who provided many years of loving care.
