Norma Jean Whitaker, 84, of Mooresboro, passed away
June 19, 2013, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born May 1, 1929, in Coal City, W. VA., she was a member of Race Path Baptist
Church, was a great mother, grandmother and care giver, and had worked in the
restaurant business as a waitress.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Arnold Kirk and Bertha Pearl
(Cadle) Kirk; sister, Lora Agee; son, Bobby Wayne Barbour.
She is survived by husband, Fred J. Whitaker of the home; daughter, Sandra K.
Barbour of Shelby; son, George F. Barbour and Mary of Jacksonville, Fla.; son,
Fred Michael Whitaker and Robin of Mooresboro; stepdaughter, Mary Amanda
Whitaker Mauney of Shelby; stepdaughter, Martha Diane Whitaker of Shelby;
brother, James A. Kirk of Coal City, W. Va.; sister, Verna Sauders of
Winston-Salem; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Race Path Baptist Church with
the Revs. Randall Cooper and John Godfrey officiating.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Burial will be at Race Path Baptist Church Cemetery.
