Mr. Odis Lee Scruggs Sr., 87, passed away on March 27, 2013, at his home in Lattimore.
He was born in Cherokee County, S.C. He served in the U. S. Navy for 21 years, during World War II, and the Korean Conflict in Germany and Japan. He also was an airplane mechanic for Lockheed for 11 years, worked at P.P.G. Industries for ten years, and was working for Security Forces at Fiber Industries at his retirement. He was a member of the D.A.V. and Amvets.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Scruggs I and Sally Bell Dover Scruggs; wife, Doris Leona Childers Scruggs; daughters, Alice "Dede" Williams, Kay Mock, and Linda Tan; granddaughter, Cindy; and great-granddaughter, Melissa.
He is survived by his sons, Odis Lee "Bo" Scruggs Jr. of Fallston, and Robert "Skeeter" Scruggs of the home; daughters, Charlotte Little of Concord, Vicki Howze of the home, and Sally Scruggs and Danny Norton of Asheville; special sisters - in- law and brothers-in-law, Mott and Jose Mendez, Betty Childers, and Al Bostic, all of Gaffney , S.C.; grandchildren, Tiffy Tan, Kerry Sangston, Tommy, Robby and Christy Bates, Doug and Scott Little, Ricky, Jay and Jeff Thomas, Kim Lancaster, Kelli Howze, Robert "Buster", and Anna, Joey, Tyler, Jenni, and Haley Scruggs; 28 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
