Mrs. Patsy Philbeck Gold Cabaniss, 93, of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Hospice of Wendover. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Amzi Cole Philbeck and Minnie Belle Huskey Philbeck. Mrs. Cabaniss had worked as an Avon representative for many years. She loved keeping her grandchildren, collecting assorted rocks, cooking and was especially fond of helping others in need. She was a life-long member of Double Springs Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She was also a Pink Lady.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Sam Woodrow Gold; second husband, Loyd Lamar Cabaniss; son, John Oliver Gold; four sisters, Louise Philbeck, Maxine Santigo, Maude Blanton and Mattie Lee Thornburg; three brothers, Clyde, Gus and Irvin Philbeck.
She is survived by three sons, Phil Gold and wife Carolyn of Shelby, Morris C. Gold and wife Drew of Shelby and Bill Gold and wife Maria of Iron Station; two daughters, Sarah Gold McGinnis of Shelby and Mary Gold Tanner and husband Keith of Gastonia; two step-daughters, Jeanette Davis and Marilyn Hester and husband Milton both of Shelby; eight grandchildren, Sherri McSwain and husband Steve, Marty Gold and wife Cindy, John Gold and wife Laura, Brian Gold, Larissa Coles and husband Jonathan, Erek McGinnis and wife Emily, Deanna McSwain and husband Michael and Andrea Asdel. She was also survived by twelve great grandchildren.
