Mr. Peeler, 82, of Shelby, NC passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 9, 2011. A native of Cleveland County, NC, Mr. Peeler retired from Firestone Mill and served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of Westwood Heights Baptist Church. Paul had a very special passion for fresh water fishing and was one of the greatest fisherman of Cleveland County, winning numerous contest throughout his life. Paul also was an avid gardener and received great pleasure each year by generously supplying family, friends and those in need his produce from his perfect garden. Paul truly enjoyed sharing conversations, stories and jokes with everyone. He was a man who never met a stranger and it always made him happy to get a smile and laugh out of someone. He loved people and touched many lives. Mostly Paul loved his family and he loved his church. He was a true patriarch and freely gave of himself and his time to care for others and their needs. He was faithful not only to his family and friends but to his church with his consistent faith and dedication. His spirit will always live inside of us. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Grady Lee Peeler & Novella Brown Peeler, his loving wife of 58 years Maxine Bridges Peeler, a beloved son Paul Peeler Jr., a brother Kenneth E. Peeler and sisters Frances Peeler Ward, Nadine Peeler and Shirley Peeler. Paul is survived by three sisters Brenda K. Flack, Norma Hamrick both of Shelby, NC, and Carolyn Topper of Cherryville, NC, a brother Grady Peeler Jr. of Raeford, NC, mother-in-law Mittie Bridges of Shelby, and nieces and nephews Jennifer G. Flack, Chanley M. Jackson, Mark K. Flack, Chris Truett, Denise Beheler, Kiley Topper, Brian Topper, Todd Peeler, Beverly Peeler, Bubba Neighbors, Greg Topper and Ronnie Peeler. In addition to these Paul had two special friends Keith Morrison and Prue Gantt along with numerous other friends. Paul also had two beloved pets Peanut and Jackie. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. David Costner pastor of Westwood Heights Baptist Church of Shelby, NC.
