Mrs. Peggy Jo Bowen Gold, age 79 of Shelby, NC, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, NC.
She is survived by her husband of 13 years, James Monroe Gold of the home, two daughters, Pamela Bustos and husband Nixon of Superior, WI, and Deborah Farmer and husband Jim of Hampstead, NC, two stepchildren, Melissa Campbell and husband Phillip of Lincolnton, NC, and Marvin Gold and wife Sherri of Mt. Holly, NC, four grandchildren, Emilia Bustos, Daniel Farmer, Caleb Farmer, and Adelaide Farmer, three step grandchildren, Laura Roach and husband Tyler, Lee Campbell and wife Ashleigh, and Alex Gold, and a step great grandchild, Ella Roach, and numerous cousins.
Born April 15, 1936 in Lattimore, NC, Mrs. Gold was the daughter of the late Pearl Frances Jones. Mrs. Gold loved her Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking for her family and friends. She was a graduate of Lattimore High School and Appalachian State Teachers College. She retired in 1990 after teaching 32 years for Cleveland County Schools. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, NEA, and NCAE.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday, November 20, 2015 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Double Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Double Springs Baptist Church, 1130 Double Springs Church Road, Shelby NC 28150, Hands on Missions, 132 Elizabeth Ave #B, Shelby NC 28150, or to Robin Johnson Hospice House, 5005 Shepherds Way Dr., Dallas NC 28034.
