Polly Wortman

Mrs. Wortman, 83, of 217 Beaver Dam Drive, Shelby, NC, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Crawley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Wortman was born in Cleveland County. She retired from Fiber Industries and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, clipping cupons, cooking and loved her grandchildren. Mrs. Wortman was preceded in death by her parents Berry McSwain and Eula Brooks McSwain, and brothers-in-law Ben Tate, Mike Reep and Bill Arms. Mrs. Wortman is survived by her husband of 65 years John Leon Wortman of the home, three sons Ted Wortman & wife Rosemary, Kevin Wortman & wife Rhonda, Neal Wortman & wife Alica all of Shelby, eight grandchildren; Kimberly Borders & Brendan Hanley, Kristi Bowen & husband Marty, Erin Sarratt & husband Jason, Heather Stephens, John Wortman, Zachary Wortman, Eli Wortman & wife Lauren, Samuel Wortman, eight great grandchildren; Alexis Bowen, Mary Logan Bowen, Caroline Borders, Corbyn Wiggins, Emma Sarratt, Caden Price, Tate Stephens and Calvin Wortman, two sisters Betty Tate of Shelby and Dianne Arms of Forest City, two brothers Alton McSwain and wife Goldie of Shelby, Donald McSwain and wife Javita of Hickory, and s sister-in-law Doris McDaniel and husband Douglas of Kings Mountain. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Jimmy Black, Dr. Paul Sorrells, and Rev. Phil Hughes.
