Richard Prassel

Dr. Prassel, 46, of 106 Southern Pines Drive, Shelby, NC, passed away Wednesday 11-26-2008 at Hospice at Wendover. Dr. Prassel was the pastor and member at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He had previously pastored Wallaceton Baptist Church & Junction City Baptist Church in Kentucky and Sterling Park Baptist Church in Virginia. Dr. Prassel graduated from Mississippi College in 1984 and earned his Master of Divinity, Master of Theology, & Doctor of Philosophy from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He served a short time as Adjunct Professor through Southern Baptist Seminary Extension Program and at Gardner-Webb University.
Dr, Prassel was preceeded in death by his father Richard Calvin Prassel Sr.
Dr. Prassel is survived by his wife of 21 years Beth Warf Prassel of the home, his mother Ruth Clower Prassel of Raymond, Miss., and a daughter Hannah Prassel, two sons Joel Prassel & Jacob Prassel all of the home, and a sister and brother-in-law Lisa & Marty Waltman of Brandon, Miss.
Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. Danny West and the Revs. Clyde Buckner and Curtis Warf.
