Richard Roper

Mr. Richard Alexander Roper, 73 of Kings Mountain, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 at Carolinas ContinueCare Hospital of Kings Mountain.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Brenda Faye Roper of the home, three children, Adam Roper and wife Ann of Cherryville, NC, Tim Roper and wife Ann of Kings Mountain, NC, and David Roper of Shelby, NC, fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Born February 9, 1944 in Cleveland County, Mr. Roper was the son of the late Sam Asbury Roper Sr., and Lucy Mae Richards Roper and was preceded in death by a brother, Sam A. Roper, Jr., two sisters, Betty Hoffman and Sue Goins, and a great grandson.
Richard worked and retired from the textile industry after 44 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Richard had a huge heart and would help anyone that needed it. He always brought a smile to your face and will be missed by those that knew him.
Memorial services will be held at 6:30 pm Friday, January 5, 2018 at Landmark Baptist Church in Shelby conducted by Rev. Allen L. Davis. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Church.
