Ricky Smith

Mr. Thomas Gordon Richard "Ricky" Smith, age 54, of Ellenboro, died Monday, December 9, 2013 at his residence. A native of Rutherford County, he is the son of Donnis Irene Jones Smith and the late Donald Richard Smith. Mr. Smith enjoyed collecting rocks, hunting, and going to the beach. He was also Dale Earnhardt fan. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and family. Mr. Smith worked at the Wal-Mart Distribution for 12 years. He was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Rita Eaker Smith of Shelby; three sisters, Connie Burgess and husband Eddie of Ellenboro, Diane Hodge and husband Jeff of Forest City, Helen Emery of Ellenboro and special friend David Hamrick of Shelby; two daughter, Carolyn Poston and husband Mark of Shelby and Cathy Christian and husband Steve of Shelby; five grandchildren, Thomas Poston, Marista Poston, Jake Williams, Ryan Adams, and Austin Hughes.
