Robert Howington

Mr. Robert Weldon Howington, age 81 of Shelby, NC, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014 at Wendover Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Cleveland Funeral Services and Crematory Chapel conducted by Dr. Paul M. Sorrells and Rev. Garin Hill. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by three brothers, Dwight Howington and wife Kate of Gastonia, NC, Hoyt Howington and wife Alina of Tega Cay, SC, and Horace Howington and wife Julia of Plymouth, NC, a special nephew, Michael Howington and wife Loma of Shelby, NC and several other nieces and nephews.
Born November 13, 1932 in Cleveland County, Mr. Howington was the son of the late Zed, Sr. and Jessie (Patrick) Howington and was preceded in death by two sisters, Erie Dell Worthy and Una Morgan, seven brothers, Herman Howington, Zed Howington, Jr., William Howington, Hal Howington, Hugh Howington, Grady Howington, and Nolan Howington. Robert graduated from Lattimore High School. He was a member of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He enjoyed listening to gospel music and going to concerts, reading his Bible and spending time with his family. During his mother's later years, Robert would be by her side taking care of all her needs.
Pallbearers will be David Howington, Jack Brack, Andy Brack, Marshall Brack, Chris Howington, Michael P. Howington, and Richard Howington.
