Mr. Robert "Buddy" Lee Cribbs, age 75 of Shelby, NC, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Victory Baptist Church, Lattimore, NC, conducted by Pastor Tom Faulk and Preacher Henry Nichols. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The visitation will be held from 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm, prior to the service at the church.
Surviving besides his wife of 56 years, Frances Brigman Cribbs are four daughters, Judy Melton and husband Victor of Lincolnton, NC, Wanda Bell and husband Craig of Kings Mountain, NC, Susan Perrell and husband Cliff of Grover, NC, and Dee Dee Stephens and husband Alan of Charlotte, NC, a brother, Sonny Cribb of Greensboro, NC, four sisters, Lena Mae Pope of Rockingham, NC, Libby Stewart of Hamlet, NC, Mary Robertson of Greensboro, NC, and Patsy Klutz and husband George of Rockwell, NC, eight grandsons, Michael Gene Kinmon and wife Daniel of Shelby, NC, Michael Lee Cribbs of Thomasville, NC, Patrick Kinmon and wife Bree of Shelby, NC, Matthew Fitch and Jason Fitch of Lincolnton, NC, Chad Perrell and wife Erica of Shelby, NC, Nathan Stephens and Timothy Stephens of Charlotte, NC, a granddaughter, Danielle Melton of Lincolnton, NC, and eight great grandchildren, Madison, Carson, Olivia, Clint, Jordan, Wesley, Madison, and Raymond.
Born November 23, 1938 in Dillon, SC, Mr. Cribbs was the son of the late Robert Lee and Ora Lambert Cribbs and was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley Cribbs and three sisters, , Inez McKnight, Virginia Jones and RosaLee Jones. Robert had worked in textiles for many years before venturing out to start his own business in textile parts. He served as a Deacon and sang in the choir at the church that he so loved, Victory Baptist Church. He loved going to the beach, fishing, playing golf and working in his garden and yard. His family meant the world to him. In the end he was surrounded by his loving wife, children, grandchildren and family.
Pallbearers will be Michael Kinmon, Michael Cribbs, Patrick Kinmon, Matthew Fitch, Jason Fitch Chad Perrell, Nathan Stephens, and Timothy Stephens.
The family would like to express a sincere thanks to Bobby Huskey, Dr. James Boyd and staff and the caregivers at Hospice of Cleveland County.
