Robert Rollins

Mr. Robert Joseph Rollins, 76, of Shelby, passed away August 12, 2016 at Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Darcus Louise Pearson Rollins of the home, three children, Robert Keith Rollins and wife Zina of Shelby, NC, Phillip Brian Rollins and wife Mimi of Shelby, NC, and Stephanie Denise Moy and husband Alan of Culpeper, VA, six grandchildren, Matt Rollins and wife Alicia of Boiling Springs, NC, Lance Rollins of Boiling Springs, NC, Lucas Rollins of Shelby, NC, Casey Whisnant and husband Jonathan of Shelby, NC, Nathan Moy of Culpeper, VA and Lincoln Moy of Culpeper, VA, a brother, Wayne Rollins of Shelby, NC, three sisters, Betty Warlick of Forest City, NC, Grace Carpenter of Georgia, and Nell Kendrick and husband Roger of Shelby, NC, and a special lifelong friend, Mills Cline of Shelby, NC.
Born February 10, 1940 in Cleveland County, Mr. Rollins was the son of the late Dewey Bryant Rollins and Essie Hunt Rollins and was preceded in death by four brothers, Max, Clyde, JD, and Vick Rollins.
Mr. Rollins was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church where he sung in the choir, served as a Deacon, and served as church custodian for more than 40 years. He enjoyed trips to the mountains with his wife and grandchildren. Robert loved going to flea markets, yard sales, and detailing his cars. He will be missed by those that knew him.
Funeral services will be held 3:30 pm Sunday, August 14, 2016 at New Prospect Baptist Church in Shelby conducted by Rev. Jim Brackett. A visitation will be held from 2:00 - 3:30 pm prior to the service at the church. A burial will be held 11:00 am Monday at Cleveland Memorial Park.
