Robin Smith

Mrs. Smith, 48, of 1930 Red Road, Shelby, NC passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, NC, she was a retired nurse and a member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, flower gardening, collecting thimbles and Blue Grass music. She was a member of the Eastern Star, where she was currently serving as Worthy Matron. She was also active in Cleveland County Walk for Hope. The family would like to thank Cleveland County Hematology, Dr. Forrest Thompson, Latonia Hopper, Velma Thompson and all the staff for their great care. Mrs. Smith was preceeded in death by her mother Sandra Kay Seagle McSwain. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband Thomas Smith of the home, her father and mother Billy J. & Faye McSwain of Waco, NC, a daughter Jennifer C. Rentschler & husband Mike of Farmville Va. and a son Justin B. Champion of Lawndale, NC. In addition to these she is also survived by two stepsons; Dennis Smith & wife Linda of Newton, NC, and Donald Smith of Abilene, TX, a sister Donna Carpenter & husband Dwayne of Waco, TX, brother Doyle McSwain and wife Kellie of Shelby, NC. Mrs. Smith's grandchildren are Autumn, Tristan & Emalee of Anson, TX, and Payton & Harrison of Newton, NC. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews who she loved dearly, and also dearly loved the family of Fran Wilson in Texas. Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. Thomas Steagald pastor of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church and Rev. Bill Pheagin.
