Ronald Willis

Ronald “Ron” Jackson Willis, age 74 of Shelby, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 23, 2022.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mil Byers Willis of the home, his children, Barry D. Lane (Freida) of Shelby, NC, and Julie Hayes of Shelby, NC, four grandchildren, Tyler M. Lane (Katie) of Shelby, NC, Rebekah Lane Brown (Austin) of Cliffside, NC, Aaron Melton of Shelby, NC, and Taylor Hayes of Mooresboro, NC, four great grandchildren, Landon Cecil, Kassadie Cecil, Sawyer Belle Lane, and Raylen Peery and a special canine best friend, Brodie.

Born November 24, 1947 in Cleveland County, NC, Ron was the son of the late Ernest Jackson Willis and Macie Lee Campbell Willis. Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He enjoyed walking long distances, writing, working in his yard, and spending time with his family and friends.  Ron was a historian and even published his own book “Telling Tales”.  He was a faithful member of Flint Hill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday school teacher.

A funeral service will be held at 6:30pm Monday, September 26, 2022 at Flint Hill Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Keith Dixon.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  A committal service will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Cleveland Memorial Park conducted by Ladell Shields.
