Maw Maw Ruby went peacefully to be with the Lord with her beloved family by her side Saturday at Hospice & Palliative Care of Cleveland County. A native of Cleveland County, Mrs. Putnam was a homemaker, wife mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and helped her husband operate the family farm. She was also a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where she was active in Sunday School and other church activities. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Carillon Assisted Living and Hospice & Palliative Care of Cleveland County for the excellent care and compassion shown to Mrs. Putnam.
Mrs. Putnam was preceeded in death by her parents John Wesley Gantt Sr. & Margaret Mae McSwain Gantt, her husband Gordon Clifford Putnam Sr., brothers; Alvin Gantt Sr., John Gantt Jr., & Amos Gantt, one sister Laura Gantt and a daughter-in-law Adelia Putnam.
Mrs. Putnam is survived by five sons; Gordon Putnam Jr. & Faye of Salisbury, NC, Richard Putnam of Kinston, NC, Edwin Putnam & Pat of Charlotte, NC, Bruce Putnam & Kay of Boiling Springs, NC, Forrest Putnam & Jane of Hartsville, SC, a daughter Rachel P. Newton & Roger of Prattville, ALA. She is also survived by a brother Robert Gantt of Spartanburg, SC, grandchildren Benny Wesson, Rodney Wesson, Lori P. Cobb, Eric Putnam, Chris Putnam, Steve Putnam, Beth P. Deichler, Stefanie P. Adair, Jason Putnam, David Putnam & Tim Putnam and 13 great gramdcjo;dren.
