Mrs. Biggerstaff, 86, of Fair Haven Rest Home in Bostic, NC, formally of Shelby, passed away at Fair Haven, Thursday, November 11, 2010. A native of Rutherford County, she had worked as a bookkeper and office manager for Biggerstaff Cotton Gins and also operated the Emergency Room Switch Board at Crawley Memorial Hospital for a number of years. She was a longtime member of Sharon United Methodist Church where she was choir director for 30 years along with a number of other positions at Sharon. She was currently a member of Boiling Sprngs Baptist Church. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; Frank E. Cantrell Sr. & Eula M. Cantrell, her husband Thomas Oras Biggerstaff, a son William T. "Bill" Biggerstaff, three brothers J.Y. Cantrell, Jack Cantrell, and Harley Cantrell, and a great grandson Christopher Jongenelen. Sarah is survived by two daughters and their husbands; Jane Hamrick & Max of Boiling Springs, NC, Carolyn Chambers & Virgil of Ottawa, Kansas, a daughter-in-law Gigi Biggerstaff of Lancaster, SC, two sisters-in-law; Janet Cantrell of Stokesdale, NC and Mildred Camp of Ellenboro, NC. Sarah's grandchildren are as follows; Kathy Jongenelen & Will, Kelley Thompson & Bob, Karen Chambers & special friend Brenda Van Lengen, Blair Biggerstaff & Laura, Scott Biggerstaff & Sue, Beth York & John, Laura Hamrick Cherry Davis & Todd. Great grandchildren are as follows; Aaron & Tasha Jongenelen, Will & Rebekah York, Thomas, Bryan & Leslie Biggerstaff, Max, Alex & Sarah Cherry, Kaleb Davis, Randi & KaCee Thompson, Cody & Zach Chambers, Drew & Patrick Fowler, and Lauren Biggerstaff, and also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. Carroll Page pastor of Boiling Springs Baptist Church.
