Sarah Hollifield

Mrs. Hollifield, 95, of Shelby, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2010 at White Oak Manor of Shelby. A native of Rutherford County, NC, she was a homemaker and retired Secretary/Bookeeper at Hollifields Body Shop. She was a member of Zoar Baptist Church where she was a former worker in W. M. U., member of the Ruth Sunday School Class and the Senior Group at Zoar. She enjoyed her family and friends and especially enjoyed times at the beach. Mrs. Hollifield was preceded in death by her parents Julius Green and Mina McFalls Green, her husband of 72 and 1/2 years Everette Hollifield, two brothers Buren & Forrest Green, three sisters Bessie Morrow, Pearl Dotson & Mavis Green. Mrs. Hollifield is survived by three sons and their wives; Gene Hollifield & Ivey of Newton, NC, Derrell Hollifield & Dot of Shelby, Eckels Hollifield & Sybil of Shelby, two daughters; Clara Alexander of Shelby and Brenda Hamilton and husband Bob also of Shelby, 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren & 6 great great grandchildren. In addition to these she is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. The family would like to extend special thanks to Sarah's caregivers, Gena Kinsey, Myrna Hollifield, Alice Wilkes and special friend Elaine Robertson and to the staff at White Oak Manor in the Skilled Nursing Unit for their excellent care. Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. Robert Helton and Dr. Robert Rose of Zoar Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Zoar Baptist Church, 1740 South Lafayette Street, Shelby, NC 28152.
