January 9, 1964 — July 25, 2014

Mr. Eric Scott Deaton, age 50 of Mooresboro, NC, passed away Friday, July 25, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Gantts Grove Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Robert Lane and Pastor Alan Beane . A visitation will be held 2:00 - 4:00 pm prior to the service at the Church. Burial will follow at Gantts Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by two sons, Eric Tyler Deaton of Forest City, NC, and Derek Taylor Deaton of Forest City, NC, two brothers, David Charles Deaton and wife Sherry of Grover, NC, and Troy Allen Deaton of Mooresboro, NC, and two sisters, Rena Brown of Mooresboro, NC, and Tina Deaton of Mooresboro, NC.
Born January 9, 1964 in Rutherfordton, NC, Mr. Deaton was the son David Vick and Sarah (Buff) Deaton. Scott was a graduate of Shelby High School in 1982. He was a devoted father that loved watching his sons play baseball at East Rutherford High School and Catawba Valley Community College. He enjoyed watching his Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team and watching his favorite Nascar driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Scott also enjoyed fishing.
Pallbearers will be Richie Canipe, Timothy Lowery, Brad Ellis, Brandon Deaton, Nicholas Powell, and Shane Vassey.
