Stanley Sherman

January 13, 1933 — January 13, 2008

Mr. Sherman, 75, a native of Philadelphia, PA passed away Sunday January 13, 2008 at Hospice and Palliative Care in Shelby. His parents were the late John Stanley Sherman & Charlotte King Sherman Ritz.
Mr. Sherman was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and friend. He had worked at Royster Golf Course and Riverbend Golf Course. During his golf career, he was the first golf pro in Cleveland County to be awarded membership to the Professional Golf Association of America. He also served as secretary for the North & South Carolina Pro Am Golf Association and assisted golfers at Royster Golf Course in forming their own golf club. Mr. Sherman also worked at Shelby Nursery where he was a maintenance technician.
Mr. Sherman was a member of First Baptist Church of Shelby, a golf professional and a cook extraordinaire.
Mr. Sherman is survived by two sons and their wives, Bill & Tammy Sherman, Steve & Gloria Sherman both of Shelby, a daughter and her husband Sandy & Jimmy Beason of Boiling Springs, NC, a sister Lynda Miller of Elizabethton, Tenn. Mr. Shermans grandchildren are Jim Beason & fiance Dawn Patrick, Jennifer Beason & Josh Beason & special friend Carrie McDaniel all of Boiling Springs, NC, Amanda Sherman of Greensboro, NC, Emily Sherman, Daniel Sherman & special friend Sarah Spurling, and Devin Sherman all of Shelby. Mr. Sherman is also survived by a number of nieces & nephews.
