Stephen Smith

Mr. Stephen Junior Smith, 71, of Shelby, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain.
He is survived by a brother, Rodney Smith of Shelby, NC, two sisters, Shirley Peay and (William) and Diane Dedmond and (Roger), both of Shelby, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews
Born May 11, 1945 in Cleveland County, Mr. Smith is the son of Mattie Toney Smith and the late John B. Smith and was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Addington Smith and his second wife, Lillian Fisher Smith.
Mr. Smith served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. After an Honorable discharge, he worked for Fiber Industries and later owned and operated Smith Auto Sales in Shelby. He enjoyed watching Nascar, drag racing, being on the lake, and traveling to the mountians.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Stephen and Mattie Smith. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family would like to express a sincere thanks to the staff at Testa Family Hospice House for the loving care for Stephen and the gracious support to the family.
