Sue Rippy

Sue George Rippy, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday May 25, 2022. A native of Cleveland County, she was born October 19, 1935. She was the youngest of nine and last surviving Child of the late Robert Hardy and Audrey Sherrill George. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rippy is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Rippy; one son, Mike Rippy; one son in law, Lanny Ollis; one granddaughter, Kimberly Thrift; three brothers, Lloyd, Jack, and Bob George; five sisters, Macy George, Mae Francis, Ora Hawkins, Tootsie Wilkerson, and Nancy Jolly.

After retiring for one year at the age of 51, she came out of retirement to open Freeman Accounting Inc., where she worked for 35 years all the way up to a month before her passing. She loved and always got excited about the family reunions in September so she could be with all her family of whom she dearly loved. She was a long time member of Westview Baptist Church in Shelby and current member of Calvary Baptist Church also in Shelby.

Mrs. Rippy is survived by two sons and daughters in love; Mark Rippy and wife Tracy, Mitchell Rippy and wife Jodie, one daughter, Malinda Ollis all of Shelby; one sister in law, Rosalyn George; five grandchildren; Jennifer Wayne and husband Robby, Jessica Hawkins and husband Alex, Erika Rippy, Leslie Ollis, and Macy Ollis; six great grandchildren, Drew, Sara, and Charlie Wayne; Hunter and Haylee Morrison, and Joyner Tucker, and a number of nieces and nephews and extended family who she loved dearly, last but not least, her adopted sons and daughters that she worked with over the years at Freeman Accounting, Inc.

A private family graveside service will be held Wednesday June 1, 2022 at 1pm at Cleveland Memorial Park followed by a funeral service at Calvary Baptist Church at 3pm officiated by Rev. Rob Rash and Rev. Ron Wood, with a visitation for family to greet friends after the service at the church
