"Suzie" Strickland

"Suzie" Karen Suzanne Strickland, age 66, of Shelby went home to be with her Savior early Thursday morning, February 19, 2015 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Shelby, NC on May 6, 1948, Suzie was the daughter of the late Edgar S. "Bus" Hardin and Donna Bumgardner Hardin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Patricia "Pat" Hardin and an infant son Gary Ryan Strickland.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Suzie was accomplished at many things and talented beyond measure. Her proudest accomplishment was her family.
Suzie is survived by her devoted husband and best friend of 46 years, Gary Strickland and their children and families: Carmen Strickland Davis, her husband Matt Davis, and their sons Ryan and Patrick; Peter Strickland, his wife Michelle, and their daughters Kate and Emily; and Nicholas Strickland, his wife Allison, and their sons Nixon and Jonas. She is also survived by her brother Edgar "Eddie" S. Hardin, Jr. and his wife Mary.
She is loved and will always remain a precious part of their lives. Her example of a Christian spouse and parent is what her family strives to meet.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Sisk officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at Calvary Baptist Church. A private family graveside service will be held on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Cleveland Memorial Park.
