Sybil Yelton Bell

October 26, 1947 — May 12, 2017

Mrs. Sybil Joy Yelton Bell, 69 of Shelby, passed away May 12, 2017 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Donald Howard Bell of the home, three children, Donald Mark Bell and wife Joan of Shelby, NC, Alecia Joy Bell of Wilmington, NC, and Jason Allen Bell and wife Kimberly of Jacksonville, NC, ten grandchildren, a son-in-law, Eric Vanderhaar of Wilmington, NC, numerous nieces and nephews, and her faithful pet Chihuahua, Ziva.
Born October 26, 1947 in Cleveland County, Mrs. Bell was the daughter of the late Leonard and Blanche Yelton and was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Emily Gold.
Mrs. Bell was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church where she previously played the organ, sang in the choir, and taught a girls Sunday school class. She loved to read her Bible, paint pictures, work in the flower garden, and camp with her family. Joy also enjoyed vacationing at the beach. We rejoice now because she is in the arms of her Savior and reunited with friends and family that she has lost along the way.
Funeral Services will be held 5:30 pm Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Bethel Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Timothy Sims. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 5:30 pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at 10:00 am Monday, May 15, 2017 at Cleveland Memorial Park.
