Mr. Ted Gibson, 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, July 8, 2022 at Atrium Health – Cleveland. A native of Gaston County, he was born January 10, 1936, son of the late Edgar Monroe and Lela Mae Lorance Gibson. He worked many years for Hoechst Celanese Corporation in Quality Control which he started there when it was Fiber Industries. Ted was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and a United States Navy Veteran where he served in the South Pacific during the Korean Conflict as a Hospital Corpsman on the USS Lexington. Most of all he was a God fearing Christian man, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather to a precious family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Gibson, one sister, Doris Powers, and a son-in-law, Carl “Chuck” Spangler, III.
Left to carry on the love he taught them and to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Nancy Greer Gibson of the home, one son, Mark Gibson and wife Stephanie of Boiling Springs; Two daughters, Tonie Turner and husband Macky of Shelby, and Sabrina Spangler of Boiling Springs; one brother, Merritt Gibson and wife Tish; one sister, Jean Auton; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
A graveside service with military honors will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Sunset Cemetery officiated by Rev. Dale Byrd.
