Thelma was raised in a large farming family. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Ernest Hoyle for 49 years before his death in 1997. Even though Thelma worked full time most of her life, she helped her husband Ernest raise a large garden and beef cattle. She retired from Kemet. Thelma was also a homemaker who taught her girls to cook and sew. The family would can and freeze fresh vegetables and fruits every summer.
Her love for sewing was often shared with her girls. One example was when she made her oldest daughter's wedding dress. Her handmade quilts will be treasured by her family for years to come.
The grandchildren and great grandchildren knew they were loved by MawMaw and PawPaw Hoyle. Thelma was a lifelong member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. A love for God was taught and shown in the lives of her and her husband. Both Thelma and Ernest shared a love for the seniors Triple L Club and Thelma loved her Ladies Bible Study Sunday School Class.
The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Carillon Assisted Living, especially all the staff on "B" Hall. Words could never express our gratitude for all your love and support given during these last several years as our mother battles the tough disease of Alzheimer's.
