June 23, 1929 — October 27, 2015

Mr. Willie Neal Ivy, age 86 of Shelby, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at NC State Veterans Home in Black Mountain, NC.
He is survived by three daughters, Joanne Ivy Groves and husband Bill of Alexandria, VA, Katherine Ivy Gardner and husband Bob of Shelby, NC, and Lynne Ivy Meyer and husband Gary of Hickory, NC, three grandchildren, Matthew Gardner, Katie Irvin and husband Cliff, and Jennifer Eddings, six great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Born June 23, 1929 in Newton County, GA, Mr. Ivy was the son of the late Samuel and Eva (Gunn) Ivy and was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lois Turner Ivy, a son, Richard Samuel Ivy, three brothers and four sisters.
Mr. Ivy served in the United States Marine Corps for four years during the Korean War. He later retired from Baxter Corporation after 45 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and loved playing golf at Shelby City Park. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and also a member of Cleveland County Bass Master Club.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Eastside Baptist Church. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church with burial at Cleveland Memorial Park.
