Winnie Brittain

Mrs. Brittain, 96, of 2638 South Post Road, Shelby, NC, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, she retired from Number Three Township School in 1975. She had been a teacher for a total of 32 years. She was a member of the Auxillary Gideons International.
Mrs. Brittain was preceeded in death by her parents Robert Franklin Borders & Laura Lee Hamrick Borders, brothers Jack Borders, Clyde Borders & Lewis Borders, and sisters Pauline B. Gurley & Ophelia Putnam.
Mrs. Brittain is survived by her husband Hugh Brittain of the home, two sons and wife, Dr. Timothy B. Brittain & Rebecca of Hudson, NC, & Todd L. Brittain of Shelby, NC. Mrs. Brittain's grandchildren are Mary Wynn Brittain Cash and husband Leighton, Brian Brittain, Amanda Brittain Janda and husband Jeff and two great grandchildren Britton Cash & Calvin Cash. In addition to these she is also survived by a brother Joe Franklin Borders of Shelby, NC, and a sister and her husband Helen Borders Burgess & W. C. of Shelby, NC.
Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. Timothy B. Brittain, Revs. Russ Bradley & Robert Eng.
