Wray Barrett

June 9, 1916 — June 5, 2009

Rev. Barrett 92, of 420 Long Branch Road, Kings Mountain, NC, passed away Friday, June 5, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Ben Price Barrett & Lillian Harmon Barrett. Rev. Barrett was also preceeded in death by his wife Irene McMurry Barrett.

Rev. Barrett was a retired minister and served at Victory Baptist Church, Allen Memorial Baptist Church, Oakview Baptist Church and Temple Baptist Church in Cleveland County; Antioch Baptist Church in Lincoln County, Springs Road Baptist Church in Hickory, First Baptist church in Newton and Piney Grove in Newton-Conover.

Rev. Barrett was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and a graduate of Gardner-Webb University, Fruitland Bible College and Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

Rev. Barrett is survived by two daughter's and son's-in-law Libby Herndon & Roy, Wanda Jones & Alan, two sons and daughter-in-laws Jack Barrett & Margo, and Tommy Barrett & Joy all of Kings Mountain, NC, and a special niece Janice Greene. In addition to these he is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren & 1 great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Revs. Jamison Williams, Mike Chambers, & Jerry Gamble.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Pleasant Hill Church Road. Grover, NC.
